Saint Nicholas Ornament & Standup, Curtis Boehringer
This is the second in a series of Santas from the Olde World. People began talking about Saint Nicholas' late night visits, leaving gifts and granting wishes. His generosity was boundless.
He was the righter of wrongs and a defender of the faith, defending Jesus as being angelic. He had a strong hand in making other Bishops believing this. Saint Nicholas' greatest miracle was bringing three students back to life after they had been hacked to death and put in a pickle barrel by an unscrupulous inn keeper. Saint Nicholas appeared in front of the inn keeper confronting him with the pickle barrel. He said to the boys "Arise" and they miraculously came back to life and were whole again.
This is where Nicholas got the reputation of being a defender of defenseless children.
When researching the life of Saint Nicholas, I too was amazed at his many accomplishments. Through this series of leaflets, we will explore the folklore and history of these Santas, in word and design.
