The Fruitful Vine, Loose Feathers Abecedarian Series - Six, Blackbird Designs
This Loose Feather collection highlights the reason we love samplers. Each will have an alphabet, have some of our favorite motifs and be dedicated a member of our family. Our Abecedarian project features 12 samplers, one will be releasing each month for a year.
My great-great-great grandmother, Mary Ann Brittenham, was born in 1810 in Sussex County, Delaware. Her mother and father moved west and settled in White River Township, Indiana.
Mary Ann met and married Johnathan Carey when she was a couple of months shy of 18 years old. During the next 14 years she gave birth to 9 children and died in childbirth when she was only 32 years old.
This sampler is in memory of her and her children who lost their mother all too soon.
