Father Christmas (Holly), Curtis Boehringer

$13.00

This is the fourth in a series of Santas from the Olde World. In England they call him Father Christmas. He brings toys and gifts to good little girls and boys. And with the keys that are hanging from his belt, he unlocks the hearts of all children.

I depicted him wearing holly. The leaves and berries of this plant are used as Christmas ornaments. When you decorate with holly at Christmas, it symbolizes that your house is holy. The holm oak is related to holly and is often called the holly oak.

There is a wonderful seventeenth century English hymn about "The Holly and The Ivy". It talks about the goodness and holiness of the Christmas season. Through this series of leaflets, we will explore Santas through the different counties. In the fifth leaflet, I will design the English Ivy Father Christmas.
