These ornaments can be done in either counted needlepoint or counted cross stitch. I stitched my ornaments on canvas using Paternayan Persian Wool. For needlepoint, use 18 count mesh canvas and one strand of Paternayan Persian Wool. For cross stitch, use 30 to 35 count unbleached linen and two strands of DMC floss going over two fabric strands.

I have embellished these ornaments with old buttons, antique pins and vintage earrings. It was great fun scouting around for all these little additions. Old pins, earrings and buttons are still plentiful and inexpensive, which adds to the fun. You might decide as I have to find a permanent spot to display your favorite ornaments.
