A Needlework Story, Cross 'N Patch

A twelve-block sampler with rich textures and roses.

The sixteen-page booklet has a black and white chart printed 10 stitches to 1.5 centimeters on an A3 page. Each block tells a different story and can be mixed and matched. Both DMC and Anchor floss are listed and there are stitch diagrams for all the hardanger.

The patterns are worked in cross stitch using six shades of stranded cottons and the hardanger patterns are worked in Kloster blocks, connected wrapped bars, running stitches, Algerian eye stitches, dove's eyes, blanket stitch, woven bars, webs, buttonhole bars, Smyrna crosses, mosaic stitches, satin stitch, fly stitches, web with spokes, three-quarter flowers, lazy daisies, edelweiss stitch, bullion centres and loop stitch using No. 8 and No. 12 pearl cottons.

The twelve-block sampler illustrated has a stitch count of 174 by 234 (estimate fabric size) and was worked on 32 count cream linen.

There's also an alphabet sampler using the house block, a single block sampler in blues and two, four and six block variations.
